Festival of Film, Music and Dance
Festival of Film, Music and Dance celebrates the ever-growing film industry on the Gold Coast in a unique and intimate portrayal of music and dance as represented in film.
Against the stunning backdrop of Surfers Paradise beach, the festival features the extraordinary Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra exploring themes from popular films, not to mention short films from some of Australia’s most talented filmmakers and colourful movie dance routines by local dance troupes.
Concluding the weekend, classic Australian dance films, Dance Academy and Strictly Ballroom will screen at the giant outdoor cinema for all the family to enjoy. Bring blankets, popcorn and all your friends and family, to join us in Surfers Paradise for two great nights out!
Short Film Festivals
With film at its heart, the festival presents two short film festivals as part of the Gold Coast Film Festival.
SIPFest, our very own Shorts in Paradise Festival and the only place you can catch films on the beach, will delight audiences with 14 short, cinematic masterpieces created by filmmakers from around the country and several international entrants. The films will be judged by a panel of industry experts and awarded $8000 in prize money across eight categories, including Best Film and People’s Choice – where the audience can cast their vote on the night.
A showcase of eight talented filmmaking teams who have been awarded $10,000 each to produce a short film that challenges perceptions about ageing.
