Festival of Film, Music and Dance

The Festival of Film, Music and Dance (FOFMAD) is a celebration of the evolving film industry on the Gold Coast. It is both a showcase of talented local filmmakers and a festival of music and dance that honours the greatest films of all time.

FOFMAD features the extraordinary Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra and Eisteddfod grade school bands performing musical themes from popular films. To add to the movie madness, local dance groups will perform routines reflective of famous dance movies.

With film at its heart, the event hosts two short film festivals in conjunction with the Gold Coast Film Festival.

SIPFest, our very own Shorts in Paradise Festival, will delight audiences with brief cinematic masterpieces created by emerging filmmakers from around the country and several international entrants. The films will be judged by a panel of industry experts and awarded $8000 in prize money across eight categories, including Best Film, Best Film Showcasing Surfers Paradise and Best Actor (male and female).

Entries are now open for the competition - visit the Gold Coast Film Festival's website if you are interested in submitting a film!

A showcase of eight talented filmmaking teams who have been awarded $10,000 each to produce a short film that challenges perceptions about ageing.

Concluding the weekend, feature films with a dance or Australian connection will screen at our giant outdoor cinema on the iconic Surfers Paradise beach for all the family to enjoy. So grab your blankets, popcorn and all your friends and family and join us over two great days and nights out to celebrate film and so much more with FOFMAD!
